THE SUMMER HEAT TRAP OR GREENHOUSE EFFECT:
The sun generates short wave solar radiation rays that penetrate normal window glass relatively easily, and are absorbed by the surfaces in the room and then emitted again in the form of heat radiation.

Heat radiation is in turn absorbed by the window glazing or reflected back into the interior of the room, creating a heat trap!

Every Ultimate Roller Shutter insulates your home in three ways:

• The slats reflect the suns rays and prevent them from penetrating the window. It is far more effective to shade window glass from short wave radiation to prevent it penetrating the home interior, rather than deal with the problem once the heat has entered your home. Up to 80% of short wave radiation generated is deflected by the shutter surface.

• Each individual slat contains an air pocket or injected polyurethane. This additional insulation inside the slats minimises the rate of converted long wave radiation heat transference to the back of the slats.

• Air is trapped between the window and the shutter providing a double glazed effect to absorb extremes in temperature. Some heat does travel to the back of the slats where is can heat up the adjacent air cavity accumulating in front of the glazing but cannot penetrate it, only a residual amount of heat is caught in convection currents which can transfer to the window glass from where it can be conducted to the building interior.
